Today, I’ll show you how to dub your videos into multiple languages using ElevenLabs.

Most videos are limited to one language, leaving global reach on the table. Subtitles lose emotion, and manual dubbing doesn’t scale. In this guide, you’ll learn how to translate and dub using ElevenLabs, so you can turn any video into multilingual content while keeping your original voice and tone.

Step 1: Start With a Video in One Language

Begin with a video that was recorded in a single language (for example, an interview recorded in English). At this point, the video does not have multiple audio tracks available for different languages.

Step 2: Open ElevenLabs Dubbing Studio

Go to ElevenLabs and click on Dubbing. This will open the ElevenLabs Dubbing Studio.

Step 3: Create a New Dub Project

On the top right side, click Create New Dub and give the project a name (for example, “Interview Dub”).

Step 4: Select the Source Language

Choose the original language of the video. In this case, select English since the video was recorded in English.

Step 5: Choose Target Languages

Select the language or languages you want the video dubbed into. You can choose one language (such as French) or multiple languages at once (for example, French, Spanish, and Hindi).

Step 6: Upload the Video

Upload the source video file by dragging and dropping it into ElevenLabs. Alternatively, a video URL can be pasted, and ElevenLabs will automatically pull the content and begin the dubbing process.

Step 7: Choose How the Dub Is Created

Once the video is uploaded, several dubbing options become available.

If only one target language is selected, a dubbing project can be created. This allows manual adjustments to the dub after processing. While ElevenLabs’ automatic dubbing is highly accurate, this option is useful if fine-tuning is needed later.

If multiple target languages are selected, the video will be dubbed automatically without opening a manual editing project.

Step 8: Set the Number of Speakers

Select how many people are speaking in the video. For example, if the video is an interview, choose two speakers.

If the number of speakers is unknown, ElevenLabs can automatically detect them. However, for videos with many speakers, it’s best to manually specify the number for better accuracy.

Step 9: Enable Voice Cloning (Recommended)

ElevenLabs uses voice cloning to preserve each speaker’s voice style and emotion in the dubbed languages.

To keep the dubbed voices sounding like the original speakers, leave voice cloning enabled.Disabling this option will replace the voices with generic alternatives.

Step 10: Select a Time Range (Optional)

If only part of the video needs to be dubbed, specific time codes can be entered. To dub the entire video, leave the time range unchanged.

Step 11: Create the Dub

After confirming all settings, click Create Dub to begin generating the new language versions of the video.

Step 12: Preview the Dubbed Versions

After processing, the dubbed videos are ready—usually within a couple of minutes. Each selected language will appear as its own version (for example, French, Spanish, and Hindi).

Click on any language to preview the dubbed video and press play to hear the result.

Step 13: Review Voice Accuracy and Natural Speech

The dubbed audio preserves natural speech patterns, including pauses, filler words, and subtle expressions. This helps the dub sound more realistic and closer to the original conversation.

Maintaining these small details is important for creating high-quality, natural-sounding dubs.

Step 14: Download the Dubbed Videos

Once reviewed, the dubbed versions can be downloaded directly to your computer. Each language version can be downloaded individually, allowing you to upload or distribute them wherever needed.

Step 15: Decide How to Publish Dubbed Content

After downloading the dubbed videos, there are two main options:

  • Upload each dubbed version as a standalone video (ideal for separate language channels), or

  • Extract the audio only and add it to an existing YouTube video as a dubbed audio track

Audio can be extracted using a video editor (such as Premiere Pro) or an online audio extraction tool.

Step 16: Add a Dubbed Audio Track on YouTube

To add a dubbed audio track to an existing YouTube video:

  1. Open YouTube Studio

  2. Select the video and click Edit

  3. Go to Languages

  4. Click Add Language

  5. Choose the target language

  6. Under Dub, click Add

  7. Upload the extracted audio file

  8. Click Publish

Step 17: (Optional) Translate the Title and Description

For better discoverability, translate the video title and description into the target language. After making changes, click Update to save everything.

Step 18: Confirm the Dub Is Live

Once YouTube finishes processing the audio, open the video and click the settings (gear) icon in the video player.Under Audio Track, viewers can now switch between the original language and the dubbed language.

Step 19: Repeat for Other Languages

Repeat this process for any additional languages to expand your content’s reach.
